Not having a men’s locker room really sucks. The construction will lead to a nicer facility, this I understand. Overall a good place to workout.

Had so much fun on the climbing wall!
My kids (15 and 12 years old) had an amazing time, and the staff was exceptional helpful!
They have staff on hand to belay, but also two auto-systems that allow you complete freedom to climb!

The staff was amazing ! My daughter and I needed a place to practice volleyball indoors. The gym was great but the way we were treated by the staff really made our experience enjoyable too!

When comparing the hper to other state schools and SEC rec centers there is no comparison. The building is extremely outdated. The Donna Axum is so small, and features 4 bench presses and 4 squat racks for a school of 30,000 undergraduate students plus other members. The locker rooms are usually dirty, sauna never works, and you have to rent a locker? Also no private showers which I find odd for a university as large as arkansas. The bouldering wall is super small and can support about 4 people on it at a time. They have converted other gymnasiums into workout spaces in attempt to maximize space, but the equipment is all subpar, and no one really uses it. The only good parts is the the urec outdoors which is a great service and the downstairs gym area. This place is in desperate need of renovation to even compete with other similar schools. I.E. Mizzou has the best Rec center in the nation. Many students end up buying a gym membership at crunch or planet b/c of the dismal hper.

This is a great gym that I have really enjoyed as an undergrad and still enjoy as an alumni. It has so many things to do if the typical weight room or cardio machines are not what you're looking for. The weight room is great and expansive so many of your needs and the dumbbells go high enough to where I doubt there is need for most people to do higher. Machines are well-maintained and the staff are friendly. The only bad thing I would say is they don't allow deadlifts outside of the squat racks and they don't like it when you drop weight, even if the amount you do is high weight. Regardless, the facilities are great. You can swim, play basketball, racketball/squash, indoor track run, climbing wall, and sauna. It's pretty great. For the price and facility itself, you can't beat this.

Heard this place is awesome, and they do have a lot to offer, but are lacking in the finer arts arts and styles from isolated worldly locations. Assuming the Masters of these arts are difficult to arrange for campus teaching. However, college Sports (fitness, recovery, relaxation, stud) needs are fully met!!

The atmosphere is great! The student employees are helpful and the equipment is constantly being cared for and updated. I love the sauna located in the locker room. It's a great way to wind down after a workout.
