I’m writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent experience when checking on the status of my prescription.

When I approached an available counter to speak with the technician, I was abruptly told to “stand back” — the tone was harsh and unprofessional. I wasn’t invading anyone’s space, simply trying to get help.

After seeing my primary care doctor upstairs, I learned the prescription had been sent in a way the pharmacy couldn’t fill due to being out of 10mg tablets. I even suggested a workaround — splitting 20mg tablets, as I’ve done before — only to be met with eye-rolls and exasperated looks. I had to go up and down the stairs multiple times, and ultimately was told I’d need to come back and wait another 30 minutes.

After all that, I finally received my prescription at 10:40 PM — for an appointment that began at 8:30 AM.

The entire experience was unnecessarily stressful. I was made to feel as if I were asking for something illicit, not simply following up on a valid prescription. I run my own business and deeply value punctuality and professionalism, and I was shocked by how dismissive and unkind the interaction was.

Please do better. Kindness and clear communication go a long way — especially when patients are already managing health concerns.

My prescriptions were called in and I went to pick it up. They said it would be up to 45 minutes to have it ready when I arrived. Nearly an hour goes by and I check to see the status. They said they were just finishing it. A few minutes later, I found out that they somehow missed seeing my second prescription even though it was sent at the same time from the same doctor. They said to wait another 15 minutes in the waiting room and they’ll come out to get me when it’s ready. 35 more minutes pass and I go it to find it was already ready but they never bothered to tell me.

This pharmacy is full of super-hardworking people who go above and beyond to help. It's great to work with people locally, since we can experience many issues with delivery by mail in our rural setting.

We are a large family with many moving targets, especially when it comes to prescriptions, multiple insurances and health care. The staff are very professional, competent, patient, and above all, generally kind people.

Sometimes there can be a wait to get certain medications from the distributor, but that is unfortunately standard in this day and age. Also, when something like my Doctor messing up my script happens, this place takes the time to communicate with him, saving me a ton of time.

All in all, if you want a local place, this is our go-to. If you are passing through and don't feel like stepping into the third-world vibes of CVS or Rite-Aid, this should be your go-to as well. Thanks Tahoe-Forest Pharmacy!

Personal service, small pharmacy atmosphere but usually really busy

Hands down one of the most unprofessional experiences I have ever encountered in my entire life. I suffered a neck and spine injury and had a follow-up visit at the hospital. I do not live in the area.

I was quoted 4 to 5 hours for a couple simple prescriptions to be filled first thing in the morning. I explained to the staff member that I do not live in the area. Due to my injury I couldn’t wait around for 4-5 hours. The front desk staff member gave me a card with a number to call to see if I could have the prescription sent to another pharmacy.

I spoke to a staff member at Tahoe Forest Hospital and she said that the message would get to the doctor to change the pharmacy. I waited an hour and a half and the prescription didn’t go through. I went back to speak with the primary care front desk staff and another staff member said the message was never sent to the doctor. Of course. So I went back down to the pharmacy and asked to speak to the pharmacist, she was really lovely and I explained my situation and she said that they would fill the prescription in 30 minutes before they went on lunch.

The pharmacist came back and told me that the prescription was moved to Rite-Aid at the last moment. So I went to speak with the primary care office staff again and tried to get it sorted out. I went to Rite-Aid and they said they didn’t have the prescription.

I went back to Tahoe Forest Pharmacy and the pharmacy manager asked me to step outside to speak to me. She then proceeded to chew me out for attempting to expedite my prescription being filled. I was absolutely shocked by the sheer unprofessionalism of her thinking she had the right to ask me to step outside and speak to me in the way that she did. Even writing this just seems unrealistic that that even could have happened. I suffered a severe injury and was simply trying to take my medication and go home and rest.

She then told me that they don’t have the prescription and it was at Rite-Aid… I was just at Rite-Aid. It seemed like she just didn’t want to allow me to get my prescription filled there because clearly the prescription was SOMEWHERE. So I went back to Rite-Aid AGAIN and guess what? The prescription wasn’t there.

So I went BACK to Tahoe Forest Hospital primary care and the manager walked me down to Tahoe Forest Pharmacy to have them fill my prescription. What a absolute mess FOR NO REASON.

Let's put it simply this Pharmacy is the best of the best. After my horrific experience with CVS I moved my prescriptions to Tahoe Forest Pharmacy. While it's a lil out of the way it's worth the extra time and gas money to have such great service and professional patient care. Here is just a simple example, I can't drive due to knee surgery and I forgot to pick up some meds that I needed, so my next pt appointment I called to check to see if the meds where still there. They got put back due to me not picking them up in a timely manner. I told them I was in town but leaving. They legit refilled my script within 15 mins for me. I know what a pain in the butt that was for them. They didn't complain or anything. And every single time I walk in the are smiling.

I went in to pick up my prescription and waited to get to the front of the line to speak with the lady, she told me it will be 20 minutes for my order, and then told me I could sit down. I told her it hurt more to sit having just gotten a total hip replacement. Then I had the manager approach me saying she had called security, because I was being rude and threatening and ask of I was going to confirm to wait. I asked her yes I would and how much more time is left now and she said 20 minutes I told her that that was already told to me 10 minutes ago and then she says I'm being rude security has already been called and she could call the police as well have no idea what in the world she even started with me saying I being rude the first place harassing and to call security

Always professional, pleasant and cordial. Always manage my prescriptions without fault. I have been nothing but pleased with ALL staff members/service since our switch over from CVS. Highly recommend!
