Friendly owner and a great assortment of items for people in the area, with both national and local brands represented. Nice selection of coffees, soft drinks, and snacks (although I wish they had more sugar-free drinks in stock). A regular here!

The gentleman who owns and works this quaint market is a genuinely good person. I used to walk down to street and stop in here for various things while walking my dog each afternoon and I’d end up staying longer than I planned to talk about cal football or the weather or whatever was going on at that time. Its one of the things I miss about living on Channing. Funny enough I never got his name and I don’t think he ever asked mine, but if you’re in the neighborhood, pop in and let him know I said, hi!

Every time I stop in the shattuck market, I find exactly what I’m looking for! The dates are always current… yesterday the milk had a much better date than at the bigger stores! The veggies even look fresh… yay!

A very small grocery store with limited selection of items and selling old close to expiry items. The fruits were almost too ripe. The bananas wouldn't last more than 2 days. The milk and bread were close to expiry. Who sells bread that expires on the same day? The milk also expired in just 2 days. The shop didn't have shopping carts or baskets. Won't ever visit again.

Hours are also never reliable and horrible customer service. Have seen arguments between man behind cashier and other customers before, but had never happened to me. Today I decided to help out a smaller business during covid quarantine by walking in and purchasing something despite the fact I had no need to buy anything. Was yelled at "Go somewhere else!" after placing my non-intrusive folded bike near me as I was shopping.

Small and somewhat spartan, you'd think the place has only snacks and the essentials. It has those, but also an impressive set of baking supplies and a spice rack big enough for a supermarket.
If you need chips, juice, eggs, cornstarch, or turmeric in a hurry, this is the place to go.
