I have now adopted 2 dogs from the Danville SPCA and they have been wonderful both times! My first rescue, Teagan, was adopted in 2020 after she was found in a box by a river along with her mother and 8 siblings. She has been a wonderful addition to our family and we couldn’t imagine our lives without her! And 3 weeks ago, we picked up our current foster, (who we will be adopting once she finishes her medical treatment for heartworm and a torn ACL) Lana! The staff at the shelter is very helpful and knowledgeable and we are so grateful to them for both of our babies!

I took my cat to get updated vaccines..I was lied to..my cat was handled with force which gave him bruised ribs and a sprained leg..they do not let you go inside with your pet which is very wrong..it's better if the owner is present so your pet does not feel stressed..I had to drive an hour back to the SPCA to get pain medication which they should have given it to me instead of making me pay for it..my cat would not of needed it if they didn't rough house him and then lie..I got 2 different stories from 2 different vet techs..never again. They are lucky I didn't get a lawyer..that place is awful!

I cannot recommend that anyone go out of their way with finding a baby through this shelter. I happened to find a sweet kitten earlier in the week when scrolling through the PSPCA website that listed all of the locations. Danville was listed as the kitten’s host site which prompted me to contact them directly through their website. Seeing that I didn’t hear back, I was led to check their social media page a few days later to try another way of contact.

I was quick to let them know through direct messaging that I was interested in adopting a specific kitten and that I would be traveling close to two hours to see about her. They responded and told me that I had to get there right when they opened to fill out paperwork. How could I even time that perfectly? They even said to bring my family with no consideration about me potentially having children that I would need to pull out of school to make a 2hr drive. Then around the same time as their response to my inquiry about the specific kitten, they post the same kitten on social media which led to others competing for her within minutes. One lady even said she would see them soon for the kitty. I am so heartbroken. There was no way I could get there right at opening. My daughter and I fell in love just over the screen and were super excited to see she was available on the PSPCA site. Competing for a cat should not be what adoption and pet ownership are about! The experience left a very bad taste in my mouth and a terrible impression of this host site. No willingness to work with me. No consideration of our feelings. Just felt like a money grab and a way to get rid of kitty to the first person who got there.

We adopted a dog here back in Nov. She is the best dog anyone could ever ask for. We had lost our dog of 10 years last summer, and when we were finally ready for a new family member I knew we wanted to come here. Everyone that works there is wonderful, and our experience was great. This is our second time adopting a dog from here. (Last time was in 2005, sadly that dog passed in 2015 but was an amazing companion for many years) If you are looking for a new family member please don't overlook the animals here. We couldn't imagine not having our Belle in our lives now thanks to the SPCA!

They have the process down. Great communication, and they took very good care of Tank. Compared to my regular vet, the price of the services is fantastic!

Have gotten both of my cats from here and they are wonderful. When adopting, your pet comes spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, and with a small bag of food, a bag of treats, and some toys! The adoption process was quick and easy and both times I went home with a new best friend.
