the $6 pain au chocolat is like a brioche. soft and bready, no crust or layers. it is offensive

not pictured but the baguette too is soft. you can wave it around like a big noodle

Pastries are legendary. Service is fine. Nothing special. Coffee is subpar. If you’re going to charge $5+ for a cappuccino then you better know how to make it.

Great cafe with amazing selection of breads and drinks. We haven't tried their bread yet but the cappuccino was delicious.

Most pastries were gone by noon.
I highly recommend this place if you're in Los Altos downtown.

We got the chocolate walnut cookie, monkey bread, yogurt cake and blueberry scone. I love how well mades these pastries are! The cookie and cake were really butter and appropriately sweet. That one less star is for the scone, I like my scone to be more on the bread- kind texture but this one was more moist more like a cake and not much blueberry flavor so mot my style. Otherwise great place in a beautiful neighborhood

Have tried several times over past 3 years due to the hype. Definitely better than Safeway, and more consistent (no burnt pastries here) than other farmers market patisserie/bakeries, like midwife and baker, sky, etc. but not necessarily better. Food is always very subjective, but sometimes their croissants look and taste more like Costco. Other times they are crisp and light (see pics, I posted one of their good ones). The layers of the croissant are more viennoisserie, and not oily or greasy like some croissants can be. Plenty of almond cream on top and inside, but lacking in fresh almond flavor and aroma. More like a sweet pastry/custard cream than almond cream.
Personal preference we just prefer a tighter diamond shape to this flat square style.
The Verve coffee to the side is pretty great in the mornings. In Los Altos, this would be my first choice for coffee. And given that we don't love Satura style pastries, first choice for pastries only if we can't make it up to SF.
Have repeatedly tried all 3 types of croissants, the monkey bread, kouign amann, etc. and the breads depending on how well risen and baked they are in any particular morning.
Service is a bit spotty, with poorly trained staff who seem unhappy. One memorable morning, an employee even told my husband that he was mistaken, they don't make almond croissants and in the history of Manresa, almond croissants were never sold, not even once!

Great atmosphere and awesome selection of breads! All that I've tried here is amazing! They also serve verve coffee and have a few seats here to enjoy your coffee and bread. They sell some of their breads by the loaf as a heads-up!

They have some cool swag here as well especially for any bread lovers!

Banquette was doughy, and not tasty. Much better options around.
And what is it about adding service fee when you pay? Is this new and acceptable for just buying a baguette?

Hands down - 5 stars! The breads and pastries are amazing! As you bite into your croissant, you can see the many layers that went into it. It's crunchy and flaky.

We always get their Levain bread and sometimes the baguette. You can get coffee as well. Aside from bread, you can get some Verve coffee grounds and even some Manresa shirts.

Highly recommend this place for bread. One thing to note that even though they are open until 3pm, there are days when they sell out of everything that they will close early for the day.
