This practice is the absolute worst I've ever dealt with. I'm a senior that was looking for a new primary Dr. because of a move and they treated me just horribly over the phone. They're about as warm as a cold wet dish rag!! The girls doing the scheduling at the front desk are a joke. They'll put you on hold over and over, then they fumble over setting up an appt, then put you back on hold, then someone new comes on the line and you have to start over. Don't waste you time. These people are rude and extremely unorganized!

Rachel Kennedy is my primary care provider. Her and Claudia are amazing, they listen, pay attention to you when expressing concerns & generally, and they’re both patient and understanding. I came in to get paperwork signed off for a therapy group and Rachel Kennedy helped discover a more complex situation that I never would’ve been aware of. So many health care providers are quick to say symptoms are normal and not to worry, often times being very dismissive. Because of how thorough, aware, focused, and educated Rachel Kennedy is she helped save my quality of life & vitality. I have endless appreciation for both of them. If you’re looking for a genuine health care provider, this is the place.

Dr. Walter Zaks and the staff at Family Health Center of Benicia are the best I have had - EVER. This begins with the front desk staff and their attention to the details on paperwork, the time spent with the staff before an appointment, and the time with Dr. Zaks. He answers every question I have and takes the time to explain everything in sufficient detail to satisfy my questions. I get personalized service that is on time - I have never had to wait for an appointment. My only regret is that it took me too long to find this gem of a medical facility.

We have been to Family Health Center twice- both times the front desk and MA's misinformed us about our providers. We specifically asked if there were Nurse Practitioners on staff, were told yes, then were seen by a PA. The front desk staff was baffled - they had no idea what the difference was between an NP, a PA and a physician. The care was adequate but not evidence-based or up to date. Will not be returning here and would not recommend it to family/friends.

I had just become a new patient here a few months back. I take one medication that I have taken since I was 12 years old. I have to pick up a hard copy every month because it’s a controlled medication and that’s the law. I have to get a signed hard copy on prescription paper.

I went to pick up my medication this month and this paper was attached to it. From now on I would need to pay the clinic $15 every month for them to write me my prescription. On top of my insurance premiums, twice a year required visits and copays and the amount I pay at the pharmacy counter. I simply cannot afford yet another expense to get my necessary medication.

I understand that there may be extra steps involved with writing these prescriptions but it’s not my choice to need this medication and it’s not People’s choice to have chronic pain or ADHD. To shift the financial burden to the patient seems very discriminatory and it’s poor patient care.

If I needed three pain meds a month that would be an additional 45$ per month out of my pocket that for some reason is not getting billed to my insurance but to me directly.

It’s a really disappointing policy and I feel like the clinic doesn’t care about me so I will be seeking to find somewhere that won’t financially penalize me for my medical condition and needing a monthly prescription.

I thought Rachel Kennedy was a good provider and I’m sorry to have to look for a new care provider just for this...but it just seems really wrong and frustrating. Especially if you’re low income and have medications you need 🙁
