Very well organized. I waited about 30 minutes to be registered. Another 30 -45 minutes to be called back. Saw the doctor who was very kind and thorough. Then had blood tests and chest x-ray. Waited over three hours for test results and seeing the doctor again. It was a very busy night for that ER which had some very sick patients waiting. Dr. Carlton was very good and informative. The young man “in green”—he is an EMT who checked people in—was so kind and most helpful.

I had a great experience at St. Mary’s Long Beach. The admission process was quick and the receptionist was very friendly and knowledgeable of my situation. The exam was quick and painless and my doctor received the results quickly. If in need of medical care in the near future I will certainly be returning to St. Mary Medical Center Long Beach.

I stayed at this hospital for a few months. The doctor's here saved my life. I felt like I was a miracle. They did the best they could to give me their best care and I am forever grateful. All of the doctor's and specialists that saw me were very caring.

I leave 4 stars because I did have a bad experience with two nurses who were very rude and one of them in particular was abusive. I have CRPS which developed after a blood clot surgery in my leg. I have tremendous pain in my foot. These two nurses were changing me and I told them to be careful with my right leg and foot. These two nurses proceeded to yank my legs at the same time. One of them then punched my foot which is so sensitive even the weight of my blanket hurts. She probably assumed I was lying even though one of the pain specialists there diagnosed me. This one nurse would handcuff me to the bed at night. I was attached to a lot if tubes and monitors and sometimes one would come off. If I requested help she would tell me "we're never going to let you out if you keep doing this" and "this is why you need to be restrained." When cleaning me up she once made a comment about me being disgusting. She would make me very anxious and scared and I just wanted to get out of there while under her care. In the morning she would tell the other nurses I was difficult during shift change and those morning nurses would proceed to remove restraints because they knew that wasn't true.

Most of the doctors here and nurses are amazing and caring. But if you come across one or two that is bad, that doesn't mean the hospital as a whole is bad. And if anyone abuses you, report them. I wish I could have stood up for myself then.

My opinion of St Mary Medical Center is that I would highly recommend them to everyone. Their staff is very kind and professional. This may sound quite unbelievable but, they really do treat you with the dignity you deserve, no madder who you are (so refreshing). I seriously didn't think that existed any longer. The Dr's took good care of me and made me feel confortatble. I can't say enough on how good I feel about this place. Thank you.

The Five star is for every single person I met from my first appointment at St Marys, derma procedure at Long Beach Memorial and the continuous aftercare with the team at the doctors office. Everyone including the amazing doctor made me feel safe, not apprehensive and cared for. This was so important to me because I was so scared of having surgery. Thank you to you all for the amazing customer service you provided me with.

When I arrived in an ambulance to Dignity health hospital I was treated very well. It was after all the tests were done and I was taken back to the emergency area. I was put back into a bed and left there for about 2 Hours. Nobody came in and checked on me. I wanted an ice pack for my chest which was throbbing in pain. I asked two workers that came into my area at different times looking for supplies if I could have an ice pack. But I never got an ice pack. I finally got up because I had to use the bathroom. Some worker happen to see me, I asked her that I needed to use the bathroom. She went to get the nurse. A male nurse came and took me to the bathroom. I asked the male nurse if I could have some water, since the room I was in didn't have functioning water faucet or cups available. I was disappointed with some of the staff there, especially the paramedic workers hanging around socializing and joking with ER staff. And all this time I couldn't get an ice pack. Wow!
