This was my first time ever using an Urgent Care from Camarena Health. I do attend their regular clinic. I don't visit the doctor often, but I had a massive soar throat for a week at that point that I lost my voice & the pain was getting unbearable with just ibuprofen. I figured by the time I got an appt with the regular clinic I'd be in worse pain so hence trying the Urgent Care. And I'm glad I did. I had a great experience!
I only had a hoarse/soar throat nothing else. No sniffles, no fever, no other symptoms. I didn't call ahead of time, I also had my 2 kids with me as I had no babysitter. I entered, gave the receptionist my info (she wasn't rude but she wasn't happy either, it didn't bother me as long as she helped me), paid my co-pay with visa. The receptionist texted me a link on my cell phone to fill out due to my first time there. I sat down filled it out in 5mins. Then I was called on my cell phone by a staff member. B'cuz of my soar throat symptom I was directed to get out of the waiting room, wear a mask, & meet at the back door to do 3 cotton swabs (1 nose swab for Covid, 1 other nose swab for the flu, & 1 throat swab for strep throat). I was then directed to either wait in the car (cuz of the heat) or on the benches outside the clinic. I was told someone would call me. I waited about 15mins, got the phone call & was told to go back inside the clinic & a staff member would call me into my room. I waited another 5mins or so in the lobby & got into my room after being weighed. I had my vitals taken in the room all while my kids are with me. They never left my side & staff were very understanding of their presence. They even offered the bathroom to my kids. I did find it weird that they never took a urine test for pregnancy precaution, nor ask for my LMP (last menstrual period). I didn't say anything, I figured they'd know better & being my 1st time there I wasn't sure. I waited in my room about 20mins before the MD, NP, DO (or what ever she was) came in, she didn't say what she was. She was asking me questions but I could barely whisper my answers to her. She took the time to listen though. She electronically prescribed antibiotics & I was told I'm good to leave. All of this happened in about an hour or so total.
Immediately after leaving Urgent Care I went straight to my pharmacy & the prescription was already waiting for me. I was beyond impressed. I hear many people complain about Camarena health, but so far my experiences with the regular clinic & Urgent Care have been great. Thank you so much!
