I’ve been going to this Bagel place for 20+ years, it’s nice to see a small owner still in business in this area and IMO they are the best bagel place around. I’m utterly shocked to see the recent comments attacking the male owner trying to call him racist, if anyone actually knew this guy you’d know that he’s a refugee immigrant who’s has employed an Indian baker for over a decade now.

In fact I’ve personally seen one incident where he fully refunded an African American for their order because they felt being charged for the extra bacon they asked for being unjust, so not only did they get their meal for free they received a full refund in cash. Honestly the way the African American was talking to him was racist, while also trying to make a scene to scare away other customers and making comments of the “Asian trying to put one over on them etc…”. If I was the owner I would have told them to pound sand and leave but he was kind enough to refund the order, as well as diffusing the situation.

I suspect this owner is being targeted for some reason as I saw another post on Next Door from some lady who posted something about the owner saying something derogatory about Indians to her husband, so not only did she post something that she did NOT personally see or experience (hearsay from her “husband”) but she was also trying to cancel the business by encouraging people to stop going there. ?

If you’ve ever been in the store they rarely ever have a chance to chat with anybody as they are always either doing something, taking or making orders.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting this location, and I must say, I was extremely disappointed by the service. The atmosphere of a bagel shop is usually warm and inviting, but that was far from what I encountered.

An older gentleman who appeared to be part of the staff was not only rude but also exhibited overtly racist behavior. His lack of courtesy was astonishing, and it made my visit uncomfortable and quite frankly, unacceptable. It's disheartening to see such attitudes in any establishment, especially one that should be focused on community and inclusivity.

I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the behavior of their staff. Customers deserve to feel welcome and respected, and unfortunately, that was not the case during my visit. I won't be returning anytime soon.

Customer service was horrible!!!!! First, the women put mustard on the bread and didn’t ask first if I wanted the bread toasted. I did want it toasted but didn’t want to waste the bread so I accepted a no toasted sandwich. We were eating out side and they just locked the door. They should have said we’re closing if you need a drink refill or a box to go. We had this pound on the door and shout They kept telling us they’re closed and I’m standing there with a plate in my hand. The absolute worst customer service and its too bad cause it’s a great location. Clearly the owner wasn’t there watching the employees piss off the customers.

One of my favorite places for a quick (or long) breakfast bagel and coffee. The bagels are freshly made daily, along with fresh squeezed juices, and delicious coffee...so much better than Starbucks. Highly recommend the breakfast bagel sandwiches, but definitely don't sleep on their lunch sandwiches made on Dutch Crunch bread. The owners, Joe and Yim, are just wonderful people and know most of their customers by name. My son and I go here at least once per week and my boy always runs in yelling, "hi Uncle Joe!" They do such a great job of making everyone feel welcome. So happy to have Bagel Street Cafe in our neighborhood!

Had a customer that just came in try to walk in front of everyone at the register and the staff pushed back on their perceived privilege. It was awesome to see people not just fold to the these kind of people. Good integrity of the staff. Happy to support them. Great Asiago and blueberry bagels. The person that was told to wait threw the food back too. Elitists never fail to be selfish jerks.

Wife and daughter love this place and send me there all the time. Friendly and family run, just make sure you get there early on weekends as they sell out some of the more popular types of bagels

I ordered a pesto bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese for pickup at least 1 hour ahead of time and scheduled it for when I would be there. When I got there, the older man argued with me for around 5 minutes and insisted that I placed the order to the wrong Bagel Street Cafe. Another lady walks up and hands him my order slip and he finally gets started on my bagel only to tell me he doesn’t have any pesto left so I chose another bagel and had to wait for 10-15 minutes while he cut, toasted, and put cream cheese on it and ended up getting to work late. I just wish I didn’t have to spend time arguing in the time that he could have helped me out.
