I've been working with Andrea for about a year both, personally and during couples therapy. My husband and I immediately clicked with her the first session! She is funny and personable yet extremely professional and highly motivated to ensure we're both doing well and getting the help we need. We've done exercises as a couple and personal outside sessions, she's recommend us books to enhance our communication skills, and always listened unbiasedly to both our complaints. For me personally she's been a beacon of help and self discovery. The way she delivers what I need is exactly how I need to hear it, and I appreciate it!!
She's one of the best in the state for a reason, and we highly recommend her!

Andrea Shields, professional, kind, knowledgeable, and amazing with all ages of clients!
My family started seeing Andrea shields for family counseling in 2015 after a family tragedy that impacted multiple generations of our family. From the first session, I could tell that we were in the right place. Andrea is warm, understanding, and engaging. She makes a safe place to discuss even the most difficult things, and she makes the experience fun and nurturing for children, while also equipping parents to both heal themselves, as well as to help their children heal. She has since helped us through many things from mental health struggles to learning issues to family communication issues to working out family chores and responsibilities. Andrea is amazing at making each person who comes into her office, no matter their age, gender, or life phase, feel valued, seen, and to get the help that they need. She is wonderful at empathizing while also helping you to feel like what you’re going through is not as big of a deal as it feels, and that you’re going to be able to get through it together. She has become a dear friend during this time and I am so grateful for her. Some of the things that she has helped us through have completely freed us from generations of pain and shame, and I don’t know where we would be without her. She’s amazing at play therapy, and she works with people in whatever way is best for them. She also is great at helping you to find resources if you ever need help with something that isn’t within her wheelhouse. She has continued her education and is constantly adding new techniques and skills to her already vast array of knowledge from her almost decade of practicing and she continues to strive for excellence in empowering her clients to achieve healing and greater success in their families and in their lives.
10 out of 10, five stars, definitely would recommend!

I don't usually leave bad reviews, in fact I don't usually review anything for that matter but this experience was truly awful and my hope here is that no one else has the same experience I did. Andrea was demanding and outright rude from the start of communication with her and this is all before we even had our first appointment. I highly recommend reading the reviews of this therapist before considering treatment from, because judging by what others have experienced, it seems this is just how she treats people. I’ve never had a provider be so caustic toward a potential patient. She acted as if she was too busy and that we were somehow wasting her time trying to seek help, demanding you get back to her at specific times, sending multiple harsh email in a row and threatening to cancel your appointment if you didn't get back to her within an hour of her reaching out. She ultimately cancelled our appointment before we even had time to fill our the pre paperwork as we were out of town for the weekend and then simply refused to reschedule. It was all incredibly unprofessional.

I have used Andrea for over two years. She is the best therapist I have ever worked with. I would be comfortable referring her to my closest friends and family. It would be a mistake to not work with her.

It's been a while since we've seen her. My daughter was struggling with depression. I was struggling with parenting a strong willed teen. Andrea never made me feel inferior, she never annoyed me. She was not assuming and judgemental and gave me confidence in my parenting and had good suggestions that were practical. Practical as in, I complained that my kids were not grateful so she suggested everyone saying three things they are thankful for during a time we are together. That was 3 years ago and we still do it today even with 3 kids entering their teen years. She didn't have that "I'm always blissfully happy" persona that local people here exhibit, which can be pretty condescending if counselors are like that while your dealing with serious life issues. She opened her practice which I'm very happy for her though I occasionally miss talking to a neutral and level headed party.

I would not recommend. She sits and is on her computer doing her school work and telling you its for a test in her class. Doesn't have any applicable feed back usually. Also agree that she forces her believes upon you on the rare times she'll actually pays attention.

Unprofessional, rude. Inappropriate language. Spends very little time listening, and more time pushing her book and talking about her family.
