This is a bike shop filled with a shared passion - and that alone is reason for 5 stars, especially since many other shops around here are all but passionate. Add to that passion the general vibe of the place - it's like Cheers, but with bikes! They will share insights on the local trails (and even show you - Derek has a ton of YouTube videos showing actual rides on a ton of local trails) while taking care of your bicycle needs and making you feel at home. Plus, the shop is a bit like a museum of bikes!
Prices are super reasonable, the mechanical work is top-notch, and the product availability is very impressive given the size and location of the shop.

Rented 2 e-bikes here during my stay. I had an okay experience. Prices were a little steep imo. $50 per hr which were not clearly posted, they only had prices for the regular bikes.
We brought 2 of our own ebikes but needed 2 more and the bikes were not the best. We had left the bike shop and not even 15min later, my brother tells me that his bike only had 1 bar left. We called and told them we needed the bike replaced and this is the part that bugged me a little. It felt like there was little accountability from their end regarding the bike and it's battery life. They kept insisting that we must've had it at full throttle/assist which we didn't. We had just left. But even if that was the case, you're telling me your ebikes are only good for 15min use if you need the electrical assistance? I have owned my e-bike for a few yrs and my battery has never reached 1 bar even at full throttle when using it for that short amount of time.
I didn't have a good interaction when trading the bike in. He kept insisting that we must've done something wrong for the bike to have lost all it's battery life (again, we had just left the shop not even 15min ago)...I've never had a bad experience with any other bike shop that rents out e-bikes.
The new bike we got didn't even have a kickstand and the seat was super uncomfortable.
It sucks that we had a bad experience bc the woman that was also helping us was very nice and they didn't charge us additionally when we had to go back and change the bikes.
I only came to this shop bc the other one we usually go to stopped renting bikes due to the switch in season. I don't think I'd ever come back to this bike shop.

Rented some really nice Specialized Rockhoppers!
Rich was awesome and helped us get set up for our bike rental!

Had a good time going up mill creek. I recommend this shop for bike rentals! They offer full suspension too!

Derek installed a new oval chain ring on my bike and my husbands bike yesterday within the hour I brought it into the shop. He even seemed to do a quick tune and lubed the drop seat post and shocks too. Awesome! No other shops even had any parts this time of year. This will be my new go to Big Bear bike shop for sure. Everyone was super friendly and service was top notch. I LOVE my new oval chain ring. Rode full skyline trail today for the first time and cruised up the climbs. Thanks Derek!

Excellent service and hospitality! Derek and co are very friendly and super knowledgeable about bikes. You can truly tell it’s their passion. I came in thinking I was going to have to buy an entirely new crankset and sideline my bike for the remainder of my trip in Big Bear but Derek was able to rethread and get it sorted right on the spot. I appreciated him getting me in right away and even postponing his own ride to get my bike squared away.

Thanks to Derek and the team at Bear Valley Bikes I not only don’t have to rent a bike for the remainder of my time in Big Bear but they also spared me hundreds of dollars by fixing my crank set for me rather than replacing it (which probably would have made them a lot more money).

I highly recommend this shop to anyone needing bike service; especially if it’s a more complicated issue. These guys have years of experience and if they can’t fix it they will point you in the right direction. They are straight up and will tell you exactly what needs done for a fair price.

Number 1 place! Excellent service for mountain bikes, the owner who evidently loves what he does was super friendly and chatty, the staff explained everything thoroughly and provided great information on the bike trails. Very happy with this service, truly recommend!
