First off, most of these reviews are full of….you know what. I recently had been referred to this place for a sleep study and after reading the reviews I was prepared to walk out. But much to my surprise, none of the details of the reviews were true (I guess that really probably shouldn’t surprise me this day and age, especially considering this is located in Edina, which has some of the worst sense of entitlement people in the twin cities) They put you in a small room with a Sleep number bed, tv (with access to their Netflix, prime and HBO account). And you even get your own bathroom that is just across the hall. The sleep tech couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating (I wish I could remember her name, I am so bad with names). I am knocking off a star though, because the only thing I agree with the other reviews is they are the worst clinic/provider I’ve come across about not answering the phone.

While I've been a patient at the Minnesota Sleep Institute for some time (including after I moved to California), my recent experience has been frustrating. Reaching the office to discuss refills or ongoing care has proven very difficult. It took weeks of daily messages and contacting the scheduling line just to get a response.

Furthermore, I was previously informed by a doctor (no longer at the institute) that they could send prescriptions to my California pharmacy. However, subsequent staff contradicted this, leaving me without a solution and out of medication. This lack of clear communication and workable interim plan significantly impacted my ability to access necessary medication.

While I understand the challenges of the Allina merger, the current understaffing seems to be severely impacting patient communication and care continuity. Hopefully, these issues will be addressed during the integration process.

Some of the worst service I have experienced. FIrst, when you call, they have an extenmsive voice mail system that you must go through, you can only leave a message, and they actuially tell you that it will be 72 hours OR LONGER. Tehy tell you to only leave one message per day presumably because people get frustrated when they acan;t get help from their medical professional.

Second, they did not accurately update my medical records when I was in a week ago. Proviodor asked me questions and then failed to accurately record my responses.

Third, the treatment plan that the providor wrote on my Patient Plan is not what we talked about.

Fourth, my providor allegedly prescribed a new CPAP machine for me but gave me no prescription and I have not heard from anyone about potentially filling it. Here I sit a week later not knowing what's going on with this prescription.

Not only is the customer srevice horrible, they are incredibly unprofessional when they can't even manage to accurately write down the facts of a visit.

Unfortunately, there really sin;t anywhere else to go. They seem to have a monopoly and don;t care about service.

I am sure this will fall on deaf ears like everything else with them. My providor did tel me that they were recently acquired by Allina. That will be a good day, at least there will be some transparency.

They are quick to get you in for a study and consult and set you up with a cpap but if you need to do absolutely anything after that, good luck. I will say the RT / doc has been great to work with and helpful but everything else about this place is the worst.
It’s impossible to get ahold of anyone to get anything done or information updated and they rarely call back when you leave voicemails. They even have a portal where you can pay your bill that allows you to also send messages but don’t bother trying because nobody responds to those either.

It was so difficult and time consuming to get my insurance information updated that it took filing a complaint with the Minnesota Attorney generals office and stopping by in person not only to the cpap office but also to a separate business office to accomplish this simple task.

More on that saga:
I sent several portal messages to update insurance information with no response. I called and left voicemails weekly to update my insurance info and when someone finally called me back a month later, they took my new info down and it never got updated either so I went in person to the office where they sent me to the business office and after 3 months I finally got everything updated!

Honestly if you want anything done at all you’re better off just showing up unannounced at the business office at
4570 West 77th St Suite 150 in edina to just do it in person.

This is easily the most dysfunctional business I’ve ever had the displeasure of doing business with. it’s hard to understand how they are still allowed to operate as a medical provider.

My primary doctor referred me and commented that their customer service is not the best. That was an understatement! The sleep study was great but all down hill after that.
It is very difficult to speak with anyone at the clinic . Leaving a voice mail is the only way to contact anyone. Their message says that they will call back within 24 to 48 hours. I left multiple messages with no response. Three times I had to just walk in. Staff was not happy. After 9 months as a patient I am actively looking for a new clinic.

The sleep institute was supposed to call me to schedule a study after my doctor submitted orders. I called this place multiple times a day for days and no one ever picked up the phone. Didn't hear a word back until I submitted a request for an appointment on their website. Told them I had orders from a doctor and they tried setting me up for an appointment for a consult after I told them I already had orders. Took them awhile to schedule and then they were booked out for months.

I have never received such poor service from a physician's office! The doctor I did the initial sleep consult with, Dr. Grullon was wonderful. The person who eventually scheduled the follow-up appointment with him was also very helpful.

No one from the Sleep Center itself was the least bit helpful! I met with the doctor on June 30. I was told that the sleep test would arrive in the next few days, by early the following week and I was given a date two weeks later to receive the results. The kit never arrived! I had to cancel the follow-up appointment, since I hadn't taken the test. In mid-September, 2.5 months after it was supposed to arrive and only after about 20 calls to MInnesota Sleep Institute, a call to my insurer to make sure they were not holding things up (they had never received an inquiry), and inquiries on my behalf from my patient-care advocate and my TMD provider, did the kit arrive--no warning or explanation, no follow-up appointment scheduled--while I was out of town. I have now made an appointment with the kind scheduler for more than a month from today at the end of October to receive the results of a test I completed.

Occasionally, during this time, someone from the sleep clinic picked up the call but advised me to call the business office (which I did) saying that they too would pass on the message. Usually, though, and always when calling the two business-office numbers given me, I only get a voice message that was never returned.

I was told to test to rule out (or in) sleep apnea because it can be life-threatening. For MN Sleep Institute to delay my test and results by four months is irresponsible. I cannot recommend this practice.

After two sleep studies with the 2nd one specifically for narcolepsy, 2 weeks wearing a sleep study watch and 20 hours straight of narcolepsy segments I was told I should see a Sleep Psychologist or Physchiatrist! My 3 years of falling asleep everywhere and anywhere with some very painful falls and broken bones I was told to "stay safe" They wound up doing nothing for me!
